Down 2 Earth Group services and history

Down 2 Earth started from 2 residential earthworks projects in 2022, that we invested in for our return to Australia in The Gap, Brisbane. With a very hands-on approach to Design we took to tree lopping, large root removal, retaining walls, demolition of a double brick home in The Gap and benching the site ready for builders. Recycling all of the hardwood, roof sheeting and as much as possible was important.

Early 2023 we started using our machinery to work on local Gapian's landscape projects. From cut & fill/ benching, turf preparation, concrete sleeper retainers under 1m and boulder retainers.

Our main work now is concrete sleeper retainers, benching, garden terracing, carport and early building work benching/piering. We've now purchased the equipment for building sandstone block retainers.

Our work horse machines that our company relies heavily on is our 1.7T CAT excavator, Avant 635 articulated load, Kanga PW628 mini loader and 6.5T Hino Tipper. We have PL insurance, QBCC license in Structural Landscaping (Trade): 15548645 and machine insurances.

After 15 years leading architectural offices in Vietnam & Cambodia as a Studio Leader we have chosen The Gap to be our long term home, and be close to the bush and wildlife. We care greatly about our environment and how to live ecologically. With good planning, solar sensitivity, drainage, water catchment, terracing, soil preparation, gardens & indoor/outdoor connectivity we can add true value to your quality of life and help maximise capital gain.

Image from "About" was from a project I lead designing 7 estates in Marina Bay, Pangkor Laut, Malaysia while working at Bunnag Architects, Bangkok for 9 years. The below images range from a Henry Moore inspired "family" sculpture in clay for a Bangkok estate centre piece, a Vodka Ice Bar at the Amari Atrium Hotel bar we designed and built, major bathroom renovation in Sydney, a bungalow in the trees behind the beach on a remote island north of Phuket to a residential garden in Bangkok from bare land up.

Over the past few decades we have designed & built multiple large bungalows for foreigners on a remote island off Phuket, Thailand. Later we opened a sculpture studio in Bangkok for 4 years for design, build & installation of sculptures for various architectural friends in Landscape companies for 5* resorts, hotels and display villages.

Phylosophy:

With D2EG we wanted a more holistic approach to trades, starting from the ground up - a back to basics design approach where even maintenance can lead to a common goal. When building a terrace, or pruning a tree do trades think of landscape viewing corridors from the living areas or how will the home evolve over time? When installing a drain is there thought given to when the drain blocks and the overland flow still keeps the water away from your home.... Looking to realize or at least be aware of the potential and phased solutions of any deck, terrace or garden should avoid costly knockdowns of new work in the future. Creating future opportunities for expansion as your family grows or potential for capital gains to be realised.
